Hoggetowne Middle School of the Performing Arts is dedicated to educating students through high standards in academics as well as performing arts programs including capoeira, rock band, drama and dance. Hoggetowne has been educating sixth, seventh and eighth grade students in a small classroom setting each year since it first opened its doors in 2003.
We believe in the value of our programs in producing creative leaders that are confident and articulate communicators. We serve a high concentration of students that qualify for the federal “free and reduced lunch program” as a result of their low economic status. We also serve a high concentration of students with disabilities.
Providing these programs and opportunities to our community’s youth is an important endeavor, and one that most schools cannot offer due to limited funding and budget cuts.
In order for these programs to remain a centerpiece in our school, we will be holding a fundraiser. The fundraiser will take place on Saturday, May 12th and will consist of a silent and live auction as well as a performing arts dinner to highlight the specialty courses offered at our school.
The funds raised through this event essentially will go toward bridging the gap left by last year’s budget cuts. They will allow us to continue to provide the arts and physical education as a staple in our curriculum.
Furthermore, the funds will allow us to provide better materials for our students and replace outdated and broken equipment, ultimately fostering a more effective learning environment.
This will be the first annual fundraiser of its kind for Hoggetowne, and the support of the Gainesville community is vital to its success.
